Blog block

Published by Cinders at 8:34 pm under Life Edit This

I’m infected!  I have a serious case of B.B.  I came back from my trip to Salt Lake City and Boise, ID, and I’m so busy living my life I am forgetting to look around and take note of what I’m seeing.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t do that just for the blog… the idea makes me laugh… but it is something I’ve always done.  And, apparently, something I do not do from time to time.   I think it’s fun to learn something new about yourself at 42.  I do not, contrary to my popular way of thinking, constantly evaluate and think deep thoughts about what I see.

I’m ok with that… I’m actually really happy to know it!

So, today let me see if I can tell you what we’ve been doing lately without boring you to death.

Roy and Squirt continue to spend a great deal of time on this thing they call baseball.  They go to two games every week, and practice at least once.  The coach is a jerk.  Well, he ACTS like a jerk a lot of the time, but I suppose he’s a good guy overall.  He is hard on the kids and the parents but what a crappy job he has!  Roy has been recruited as an unofficial assistant and the stories he tells of parents whining about their kids not playing enough or playing the wrong position or being picked on… craziness!    These kids are 10.  T. E. N.  They are not experts… heck they are just learning all the rules.  They do NOT pay attention all the time.  They do NOT c.a.r.e. if they miss a ball because they were talking to their friends instead.  They are 10.   If I was allowed into this crazy boy world (don’t tell anyone but I’m pretty glad I’m not allowed!) I would put that on a 16″ x 90′ banner.  THEY ARE 10!   Being 10 gets you an automatic pass on a lot of things.

Am I rambling?  It sure sounds like I am.    I suppose I should move on….

The pool is finally warm enough to enjoy a swim on an 80 degree day.  So that’s what we did the last two days.  Squirt has three good friends that live on our street (YAY!) and they were all in the pool most of yesterday and most of today.  When they weren’t in the pool, they were building forts out of patio furniture and blow up floaties and beach towels.  Being 10 must be the Age of Fort Building!  It was then that I stole a floatie and floated quietly around the pool by myself.  That lasted about three minutes.  :o)

Roy and I went to Sears this afternoon and bought a new BBQ grill.  I still can’t believe he brought the old one from Boise.  Our old grill was a housewarming gift from his brother back in 1997.   It served it’s purpose!  It provided enough hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and ribs to be retired!   The handle to open the lid was only connected on one side.  The “bricks” at the bottom have charred to nothing.  I should take a picture of it.  Old and decrepit!  Anyway… the new one is bright and shiny and not available until Friday, but that’s OK.   We paid for most of it with a gift card I got from redeeming reward points on my Sears card.  I heard a rumor they were going to cut the “worth” of the points so I cashed them all in.   It felt like free money, and that is always fun.

Well… that’s about a million words (give or take a few hundred thousand) which isn’t bad for someone with a bad case of B.B.   If I was going to blog about what I see today, it would be about some crazy lady with nothing to say who takes a very long time to say it <grin>.

Oh oh oh … forgot… I’ve been “smober” for 3 weeks, 1 day, 22 hours and 4 minutes.

You are really serious about this nonsmoking thing! I am so proud of you because I know from watching your Dad quit that it’s really hard.

You don’t want to get involved with those baseball parents. They are taking it too seriously, don’t you think? I suspect Squirt gives as hard as he gets.
